Makarska Riviera has many places which delight visitors from all over the world. The most famous ones are Makarska, Baska Voda, and Brela.

However, there are many other places in Makarska Riviera which are not so glamorous, but feature almost the same natural beauty and beaches. Those places are more intimate and perfect for those who want to enjoy family holidays. Some of them are Gradac, Zaostrog and Podaca, located at the south of Riviera.

Zaostrog and Podaca tourism

As you can see from the photos, Zaostrog is a nice intimate tourist place featuring all the necessary facilities for good family vacation. The place is not crowded and you can enjoy its Mediterranean atmosphere. Beaches are mostly pebble, featuring trees which provide shade. You can stay on the beach during the hot sunny hours.

There are many beach bars and restaurants just above the coast in Zaostrog and Podaca. Prices are affordable. For a pizza, you averagely pay 7 - 8 euro.

In July 2020, after the first wave of coronavirus pandemic, all the bars and restaurants are open. It's necessary to disinfect hands while entering an indoor place and keep a social distance of 2 meters. Masks are not mandatory in coffee bars or restaurants, only in the shops.

The most monumental historic building in Zaostrog is a Franciscan church from the 15th century. It was built in Gothic style. Masses are held every day in the church. You can check the schedule on their website.

The most famous accommodation option is hotel and apartments complex Morenia All-Inclusive Resort. It features nice apartments just above the sea. It's a kind of more luxurious and expensive type of accommodation.

Ther are many private apartments as well, and I would point out Mandy apartments, where I stayed during my visit. The host is welcoming, apartments are not really luxury, but they are clean and affordable. I can definitely recommend it.

The third option is accommodation in camp Viter. Especially in 2020, camps are considered to be the safest accommodation option regarding coronavirus crisis.
