Things to do in Supetar
Supetar is a small charming tourist destination. Its most prominent quality is authenticity - the place preserved the Mediterranean atmosphere, unlike other more popular tourist spots in Croatia which became too commercial.
You can feel the Mediterranean vibe while talking to people and observing their emotions towards their home town.
The architecture of the houses and buildings is unique as well - all the construction is made of so-called Brac's stone, which is excavated on the south part of the island.

The Brac's stone is one of the most recognizable symbols of the town. Many people from the island are taught the art of creating stone shapes from an early age.
While walking through the town, you will notice that almost every house is its own small masterpiece of art - there are no boring generic buildings.
Brac's stone is a construction material used not only on the island but in other Croatian towns and abroad.
For example, the famous Cathedral of St. James in Sibenik, which is considered to be a gothic masterpiece of art, was built of stone excavated and transported from Brac.

The most prominent tourist spot and gathering place in Supetar is the main square located in the vicinity of the ferry port.
The square consists of the parish church of St. Mary's annunciation, clock tower, bell tower, and elementary school.
The church was rebuilt a few times during history. The latest upgrade dates from the 19th century.
Entrance to the church is free. You will notice a few nice masterpieces of art inside - paintings and sculptures mostly from the baroque.

Supetar's Riva is another place of tourist interest. Riva is a truly charming spot and an enjoyable place to take a romantic or family walk. Many tourists and visitors sit in one of the coffee bars on Riva while enjoying their favourite drink and a nice sea view.
