As of August 10, 2021 nightclubs in Split are allowed to work only up to midnight. Additionally, only those people who can show digital COVID-19 confirmations may be allowed to enter clubs.
That's kind of bad news for all those who enjoy parting till early morning hours, but this restriction seems to be effective in preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

Many people who do not want to go home at midnight stay at the beach Bacvice and organise small party groups on their own.

Should you visit Split in August 2021?

I would recommend you to do so, despite the mentioned limitation. There are many visitors in the town, and everyone is feeling safe and having a good time. All tourist facilities are fully operational, meaning you can take a day trip to nearby towns like Trogir, Sibenik, and Omis.
