Split is known to be a top Croatian tourist destination.
Just like the other tourist places, the pandemic significantly influenced life and tourism in Split.
I decided to take a walk around the town on June 4, 2021, to check the atmosphere, and if visitors are back.

Immediately after a short walk around the town and Riva, I could notice that life is back. And by that I mean fully back!
I could say that no signs of the pandemic are visible anymore.
We can easily start talking about pandemic as something that was in the past. And in front of us, there is a nice tourist season, and for those looking for a travel, it may be a really nice summer.
Split in June 2021
Just as you can see from the photos, people on Riva are relaxed, and they enjoy socializing while having a good time. All the coffee bars, restaurants, and shops are open, just as before the pandemic. Masks are still obligatory in indoor spaces.
Street concerts are back as well: you may enjoy listening to soothing violin music or watch the street performances.
People who are in the town are of all kind of nationalities and age. I could notice excited high school graduates, young foreign visitors, and people in middle ages and older.
Everyone is having a good time after all the stress caused by the pandemic.
Although things are getting back to normal, we will still have to wait a few weeks for large public gatherings, especially those which are held in indoor spaces.
Should you visit Split in 2021
Definitely yes. Whichever age or nationality you are, Split is welcoming everyone. As the positive pandemic trends continue, the restrictions are being eased down on a weekly basis. And the borders are opening again.
The pandemic taught us that staying among groups of people and having a good time outside is an important aspect of our lives. No one could believe two years ago that an ordinary walk on the Riva among the people would be a notable experience. But in 2021, after all the stress caused by the pandemic, it really is, and we learn to appreciate more such ordinary things, like going out and taking a beer with a wife or friends.
