Split Riva atmosphere
Riva is a place of enjoyment, socialising and romance: it's a scene of family and romantic walks, a kind of a catwalk. Especially during the summer season, you can notice many girls around showing their most beautiful dresses.
Riva is also a place of important religious and political events: every year on May 7 there is a huge celebration of the patron of Split: St. Domnius. The celebration includes mass on open space with Croatian bishops, and entertainment and music events all the way till late night hours.
Split Riva features a kind of prettiness and a relaxed atmosphere which is a bit mystical and difficult to explain. Since it was built by French general Marmont in the 19th century, I guess there is some French charm built in it.
Riva is visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors every year: most of them enjoy early evening walks during the summer season. However, the place is lively all year long, not only during the peak season.
In December there are advent facilities and events held on Riva, creating a beautiful pre-Christmas atmosphere
Split Riva tourist facilities
Riva features all the necessary tourist facilities for a glorious destination like Split. You can take ice cream or a coffee in your favourite coffee bar. There are restaurants offering various kinds of food, including pizza and Mediterranean specialities. Just as expected, the prices are a bit higher than average for Split.
Riva features tobacco shops, jewellery stores, bakeries, restaurants that offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, fast foods, wine and souvenir shops, pancakes shops and fast-food restaurants etc.
Tourist agencies sell one-day trips to nearby islands. The most featured is five islands hopping tour, which includes visits to Hvar, Vis, and Blue Cave on Bisevo.
The most monumental cultural attraction on Riva is the church and monastery of St. Francis, which was constructed in the Medieval period.
Split Riva dress code
You can wear whatever you like on Riva, except walking in a swimsuit, which would be considered a bit inappropriate.
Like I already said, girls choose the most beautiful clothes from the wardrobe for a walk along the Riva.
Most of them do not wear high heels, since the atmosphere is relaxed and easygoing.
Split Riva nightlife
The fanciest nightclub, bar, and restaurant on Riva is called Terminal F. It gathers fancy clientele.
Another interesting spot is Fabrique Pub, featuring an original interior atmosphere. Except serving food and drinks, Fabrique Pub works as a nightclub during the summer months.
Bar Inbox is one of the most interesting open-air nightlife spots for young visitors of Split. It is usually the first night out destination. DJ starts to play music around 9 pm until 1 am when the club closes, and it's time to move to nearby beach Bacvice.
Split Riva location
Many people consider Riva as a central point of Split.
Riva is located just near the Diocletian's Palace and the old town. The main bus station and ferry port are located just a hundred meters away. Beach Bacvice is only 300 hundred meters away.
On the west side, there is a nice park called Sustipan, featuring preserved nature and a nice sea view.
